About the Group

Organized February 15, 2024

“The 1879 Project” group name was derived from Livermore that was founded in 1879. This community grew in importance as an agricultural center with grain elevators and feed mills and merchants serving the surrounding rich farmland. The community is located adjacent to the confluence of the East Fork Des Moines River and Lott's Creek. Early industries included a brick and tile factory and agricultural products processing. As north central Iowa's rural population dwindled, so has Livermore's population. But on Livermore Daze it is time to increase the population for a day. You can contact the “The 1879 Project” group by mail: PO Box 69, Livermore, Iowa 50558 or by phone (515) 890-3035, E-mail the1879project@gmail.com  and on their Facebook page “The 1879 Project.”

The mission of the group is to Promote activities for the common good and civic betterment of the Livermore, Iowa community and reinvest all profit back into the town of Livermore.
